Inspiration for what to wear during your engagement session
SO you JUST got engaged, this is such an exciting time! Now you want to announce to all of your friends, coworkers and family that you are going to get MARRIED!!! Before we even dive into wedding venues, florists ... etc... use this time to have fun, enjoy the excitement and capture this moment forever! Choose something that shows who you and your partner are today! So let's dive in to give you some inspo for your engagement session.
Location location location...
This is huge! Choose what resonates with you most. For example, did you get your first place together in Southern California because you love the beach? Do you love to hike and would prefer a more earthy, rocky setting? Every engagement shoot location has different aesthetics / color coordination and footwear necessities!
Beachy Engagement Wardrobe Inspo
I LOVE my beach shoots, I have to say these are my personal favorite! I recommend going barefoot for a more natural vibe. For her - think flowy light colored dresses or tops. Pastels and neutrals always look fantastic against an ocean background. I would try to stay away from too many patterns, or distracting prints. We want the attention on you guys! Minimal jewelry or a fun pop of color with earrings! Big hats, a light coat, things that are easy to take on and off for some variety. For him - a light colored button up with cuffed jeans or khakis is always a good bet! Think fun casual but not to casual!
Earthy Engagement Wardrobe Inspo
I can not emphasize enough, don't forget your hiking sneakers!!! You can always change out of them when we get to our photo location but it may not be fun to explore in heels or your clean bright shoes! You can always go formal, beach, light colored dress (never a bad choice). Or you can consider going with the earthy scenery, sage greens, nude colors. I would stay away from any bright reds or hot pinks that maybe wouldn't fit into the motif. Try to consider the season we are shooting in, winter you can incorporate pretty scarves and sweaters, during spring the flowers will be blooming so a scrappy simple dress may work better!
Go for outfit changes!
This is your engagement photoshoot! Have fun with it! Bring a few pieces, we can meet up beforehand and chat about what we think would work best. Do a dress and have a change into cuffed jeans and a blouse, throw on a hat. Bring it all! If we don't like something, we don't have to use it.
Show off your uniqueness!
Sometimes it's tough to find a perfect outfit for your engagement session. But that's just it, it doesnt have to be perfect, just has to be you! Whether you want to go classic white or a t shirt and jeans. This is about you and showing your love / personality. Is there a piece that you are obsessed with but haven't found the opportunity to wear? This is your chance!
