Hello! Having trouble picking out what to wear to your family photo session? I'm here to help spark some creativity!

It can be a challenge to decide what to wear for your family shoot. Show off you and your families personality and style while selecting items that are timeless for your memories! Hi, my name is Taylor, I'm a family and wedding photographer based in Redondo Beach. Over the years I have seen many different colors, themes, and styles. I have gathered what ideas I think work best and I'm here to share them with you!

Family Photographer Redondo Beach

Where to begin...

I suggest starting out with a main color choice and then picking an accent color. Without being to matchy matchy, try to sync up the family wardrobe in a unique way. For example; say your base color is white and your accent is a forest green, mom decides to wear a flowy green dress, you can incorporate a some white jewelry (pearls, opals...) while her partner wears a white top with a similar shade green jacket. Try not to have everyone wearing the exact same thing, the colors can be slightly different with little touches of your accent color.

Look at your home decor

If you are planning on printing and framing these photos around your home, keep in mind your home's aesthetic. Is your home shades of brown and whites? Or maybe it has bright pops of color! Something to consider when choosing your family photoshoot outfits.

Consider your photoshoot location

We will discuss locations during our photography consultation appointment, once you've fallen in love with a location its important to take into account the colors, lighting and overall feeling of the area. I personally like to stay relatively neutral without blending into the background.

What to avoid

Logos, loud prints and extremely bright colors (hot pink, bright red etc etc...) can be distracting and take away from the subject (you!) and the background as well. Keep things simple!

Colors I find the most flattering in photos

My go to colors are always neutral, shades of white, tans and browns, they match everything and you can wear them in almost any location, you cant go wrong here! If that's not your thing, lately i've been really loving a pop of color! A deep red (not bright red!), or a deep green are always so beautiful and help you POP from the background!

Most importantly

Don't overthink it, and show iff your unique style. It's you and your loved ones, you will love the photos I promise!

Thank you!!
